Quick answer

To hire dancers in Hong Kong or Bangkok, you book through an agency that can supply the act, crew and stage plan, not just a video link. Guide prices for a group act run roughly HK$18,000 to HK$45,000 in Hong Kong and THB 35,000 to THB 120,000 in Bangkok for a set, depending on group size, style and set length. Book four to eight weeks out, longer in December and around Chinese New Year or year end gala season.

1. The basics

What you get when you hire dancers in Hong Kong and Bangkok

A dance booking should include the performers, a show director or team lead who runs the cue sheet, music tracks edited to your room, and a technical rider telling your venue or AV supplier exactly what stage size, flooring and power the act needs. If an agency sends you a quote with none of that, you are buying a video clip, not a show. When we book dance acts for Hong Kong ballrooms or Bangkok riverside venues we confirm the floor surface first, because a marble lobby and a hotel ballroom carpet need different footwear and sometimes a portable dance floor.

Most clients booking in Hong Kong are hotel marketing teams, corporate HR departments running an annual dinner, or wedding couples wanting a first look moment. In Bangkok it is often a mix of corporate galas at riverside hotels and private parties on rooftop venues. Either way, the brief you give us matters more than the style you pick. Tell us the room, the guest count, the dress code of the event and whether there is a stage already, and we will shortlist acts that actually fit, not just acts that look good on paper.

2. Styles

Styles we book most in Hong Kong and Bangkok

The split between traditional and contemporary shifts by event type, not by city. Corporate galas lean toward high energy group numbers. Weddings lean toward a shorter, more intimate number during cocktail hour or the first dance.

  • LED and contemporary dance crews, built for gala dinners, product launches and award nights where you want visual impact on a dark stage.
  • Chinese fan, ribbon and lion or dragon dance, booked heavily around Chinese New Year and for Hong Kong corporate dinners with a cultural theme.
  • Thai classical and folk dance, requested for Bangkok riverside dinners, cultural galas and some wedding receptions, usually a smaller group of four to six dancers.
  • Latin, salsa and ballroom pairs, booked for weddings and black tie dinners where a short showcase number precedes an open dance floor.
  • Bollywood and South Asian group dance, common for Diwali events and weddings with South Asian guests in both cities.
  • Burlesque, cabaret and circus-adjacent dance, booked for adult private parties and some hotel rooftop events, with content adjusted on request.

If you are not sure which style fits, tell us the audience age range and the tone you want, formal, festive or loud, and we will narrow it down. A gala dinner for a bank is a different brief to a product launch after party, even if both happen in the same Hong Kong ballroom.

3. Cost

Guide prices to hire dancers in Hong Kong and Bangkok

Price is driven by group size, set length, costume changes and whether the act needs rehearsal time on your stage. A four person contemporary crew doing one six minute number costs less than an eight person traditional act doing three costume changes across a twenty minute set. These are guide ranges only, confirm the actual figure with a quote once we know your date and brief.

Act typeHong Kong (HKD)Bangkok (THB)Typical group size
Duo showcase (Latin, ballroom, fire or LED pair)8,000 to 18,00018,000 to 40,0002 dancers
Group contemporary or LED crew, one set18,000 to 35,00035,000 to 85,0004 to 8 dancers
Traditional cultural show (lion dance, Thai classical, fan dance)15,000 to 30,00030,000 to 70,0004 to 10 dancers
Large production, multiple numbers and costume changes35,000 to 60,000+80,000 to 150,000+8 to 16 dancers

Prices usually move with guest count only indirectly, through stage size and sound requirements, not per head. What moves the number most is rehearsal time on site, costume count, and whether you want a choreographed brand integration such as dancers wearing your logo colours or performing to a custom edit of your company anthem.

The most expensive mistake

Booking a dance act off a video without confirming stage dimensions, floor type and get-in time with your venue first. A crew built for a sprung stage can be unsafe or simply unable to perform their choreography on a marble lobby floor or a tented outdoor space with uneven ground. Fixing this on the day means a cut routine or a cancelled number, not a refund. Send us your floor plan and venue name before you confirm a style.

4. Venue needs

Stage, power and space: what venues actually need

Most Hong Kong hotel ballrooms can take a dance act with no extra equipment, but a harbour cruise or a rooftop bar in Causeway Bay or Tsim Sha Tsui is a different conversation, deck space is often smaller than it looks in photos and wind matters for costumes and props. In Bangkok, a Chao Phraya river dinner cruise has similar constraints, plus the boat's own power supply which is usually not enough for additional stage lighting.

  • Minimum stage footprint: roughly 4m x 3m for a duo, 6m x 4m for a group of six to eight, more for anything with lifts or formations.
  • Floor: flat and non slip. Marble, polished tile and outdoor decking usually need a portable dance floor, which we can arrange and quote separately.
  • Power: a dedicated circuit for sound, separate from catering and lighting circuits, to avoid a kitchen trip killing the music mid-set.
  • Changing space: a private room or screened area near the stage for costume changes, especially for acts with more than one number.
  • Get-in time: most group acts need 45 to 90 minutes before doors for a sound check and floor mark, longer for LED costume acts that need to sync to a lighting cue.

If your venue is new to us we ask for floor plans and photos before confirming the act, not after. This is also where coordinating with your event management team pays off, since stage build, AV and catering timing all sit on the same clock.

5. Show length

Set length and show structure

A single dance number typically runs three to six minutes. Most corporate and wedding bookings use a short set of two to three numbers across ten to eighteen minutes total, timed around a speech, a toast or a course change so the room's attention stays where you want it. A full production show with an opening number, a costume change and a finale can run twenty five to forty minutes, but that is closer to a cabaret format than a single dance act and needs more rehearsal and tech time.

For weddings we usually place the act between the main course and dessert, or right after the couple's first dance to keep momentum rather than compete with it. For corporate galas the act often opens the evening before speeches, or closes the formal part of the night before the band or DJ takes over. If you are also booking a live band for the same event, we build the running order so the dance set and the band do not overlap or fight for the same changeover window.

6. Timing

Lead times and festival season

Book four to eight weeks ahead for a standard group act in either city. Push that to ten to twelve weeks if you want a specific large crew, a custom choreography built around your brand, or a date in peak season.

Peak periods to plan around:

  • Chinese New Year in Hong Kong: lion and dragon dance acts book out weeks in advance, confirm early if this is your theme.
  • December corporate season in both cities: year end dinners and galas compress available dates fast, especially Friday and Saturday nights.
  • Songkran and Loy Krathong in Bangkok: Thai classical and folk acts are in high demand, and traffic and logistics around festival dates need extra buffer time.
  • Diwali and Hari Raya season: Bollywood and South Asian dance acts and family friendly programming both see a spike in requests.

Outside these windows, two to three weeks can still work if the act and group size are flexible, but you lose negotiating room on price and on exact performer line up.

7. Beyond HK and BKK

Singapore and Kuala Lumpur

We book the same range of dance acts in Singapore, often for Sentosa resort events and Marina Bay venues, and in Kuala Lumpur around the KLCC area for hotel ballrooms and corporate functions. Pricing sits in a similar band once converted to SGD or MYR, and the same questions apply: stage size, floor type and get-in time. We also cover Macau and Phuket on request, and other cities in the region if you tell us the brief.

Dance acts are frequently part of a bigger entertainment booking. If you are planning a corporate event with multiple acts, a wedding with several entertainment slots, live musicians alongside the dancers, or a family day that needs separate entertainment for children running at the same time, tell us all of it in one brief. It is easier for us to build a running order once than to bolt bookings together after the fact.

FAQ

How much does it cost to hire dancers in Hong Kong?

A duo showcase typically runs HK$8,000 to HK$18,000, a group act of four to eight dancers runs HK$18,000 to HK$35,000, and a larger production with multiple numbers can reach HK$60,000 or more. Price depends on group size, set length, costume changes and rehearsal time on your stage. These are guide ranges, confirm the exact cost with a quote for your date and venue.

How much does it cost to hire dancers in Bangkok?

Guide prices in Bangkok run roughly THB 18,000 to THB 40,000 for a duo, THB 35,000 to THB 85,000 for a group act, and THB 80,000 to THB 150,000 or more for a large production with several numbers and costume changes. The final figure depends on venue, set length and whether a portable dance floor is needed.

How far in advance should I book a dance act?

Four to eight weeks ahead is standard for both Hong Kong and Bangkok. Book ten to twelve weeks out for custom choreography, large crews, or dates during Chinese New Year, Songkran, Loy Krathong or the December gala season, when the best acts and dates get held early.

Can dancers perform on a boat or rooftop venue?

Yes, but deck space, floor surface and wind need checking before you confirm a style. Harbour cruises in Victoria Harbour and river dinners on the Chao Phraya usually have smaller stage areas and limited power than a hotel ballroom, so acts with lifts, large formations or heavy LED rigging may need to be simplified for safety.

Can you match dance performances to a theme, like Chinese New Year or a Thai cultural night?

Yes. Lion and dragon dance, fan and ribbon dance, and Thai classical or folk routines are booked regularly for themed corporate dinners, Chinese New Year events and cultural gala nights in both cities. Tell us the theme and audience and we shortlist acts that fit, rather than a generic group routine.

Do you provide dancers for weddings as well as corporate events?

Yes. Wedding bookings are usually a shorter set, often a showcase duo or small group performing during cocktail hour or right after the first dance. Corporate bookings tend to be larger group acts for a gala dinner or product launch. Both are quoted the same way, based on group size, set length and venue requirements.
