Quick answer

We book kids party entertainment in Hong Kong and Bangkok on a per-act or combined package basis: magicians, balloon twisters, face painters, mascots and bubble shows, usually for sets of 30 to 60 minutes. Guide prices start around HKD 2,500 to 4,500 per act in Hong Kong and THB 8,000 to 18,000 in Bangkok, depending on set length, language and whether it is a solo act or a small team. Book two to four weeks ahead for a normal weekend, earlier around Chinese New Year and Songkran.

1. The basics

What counts as kids party entertainment

Kids party entertainment covers a short list of acts that actually work with a room full of children under twelve: a magician doing close-up and stage tricks, a balloon twister making animals and hats while queueing kids in an orderly line, a face painter working through a queue at a steady pace, a mascot character for photos and a short meet-and-greet, and a bubble show for the younger end of the age range or for a gentler corporate family day. Most Hong Kong and Bangkok bookings mix two or three of these rather than running one act for the whole party. A magician plus a balloon twister is the most common pairing we get asked for, because one holds attention on stage while the other works the room.

We also get asked for games hosts and party coordinators for larger events, usually hotel family days or a brand's Chinese New Year or Songkran event for staff families. That is a different booking to a single birthday party and we scope it separately, closer to our event management service than a straight entertainer booking.

2. Pricing

Guide prices for Hong Kong and Bangkok

Prices depend on set length, whether the performer works in Cantonese, English, Thai or Mandarin, and whether you want one performer or a small team for a bigger guest count. The ranges below are a starting point to confirm against your date and venue, not a fixed rate card.

ActTypical setHong Kong guide priceBangkok guide price
Magician (stage or close-up)30 to 45 minutesHKD 3,000 to 5,500THB 10,000 to 20,000
Balloon artist45 to 90 minutes, roamingHKD 2,500 to 4,500THB 8,000 to 15,000
Face painter60 to 120 minutes, queue-basedHKD 2,500 to 4,500THB 8,000 to 15,000
Mascot character20 to 30 minutes, plus photosHKD 2,800 to 5,000THB 9,000 to 18,000
Bubble show20 to 30 minutesHKD 3,500 to 6,000THB 12,000 to 22,000

These are guide ranges only. Weekend dates, Chinese New Year week, Songkran week and anything needing two performers for a guest count over 60 children will sit higher. Ask for a written quote once you have a date and venue, because that is the only number worth planning a budget around.

3. Timing

How long each act actually performs

A face painter or balloon twister is rarely "on" for a fixed block the way a stage act is. They work a queue, and the real time commitment is how many children are in the room and how fast each one moves through. As a rough planning figure, one face painter can get through 15 to 20 simple designs an hour. If you have 40 kids and want everyone painted inside 90 minutes, you need two painters, not one working faster.

A magician's stage set runs 30 to 45 minutes and works best as a fixed point in the afternoon, not background entertainment while people are still arriving. Mascot appearances are kept shorter, 20 to 30 minutes, because the costume gets hot fast in Hong Kong's humidity or a Bangkok hotel function room without strong aircon, and because younger kids lose interest in a static character after that point. Bubble shows run short for the same reason: they are built for a five-minute wow moment repeated through a 20 to 30 minute slot, aimed at the three to seven age range.

4. Venues

Venues: ballrooms, rooftops, harbour cruises, river dinners

Hotel ballrooms are the easiest venue for us to work in. Power is never an issue, there is usually a stage or at least a flat raised area, and the room can be dressed around the act. Rooftop bars and outdoor venues need more planning: wind affects balloon work and bubble shows more than people expect, and a magician doing card tricks outdoors in a breeze is fighting the venue, not performing in it. If your event is on a rooftop, tell us at the enquiry stage so we can brief the performer and bring wind-appropriate material.

Victoria Harbour cruises are a popular format for corporate family days in Hong Kong, and they come with real limits: deck space is tight, there may be no fixed power point, and a moving boat is not the place for anything that needs a backdrop or a big prop set. We scale the act to the boat, usually a roaming magician and a balloon twister rather than a staged show. Chao Phraya river dinners in Bangkok have the same constraints. Sentosa venues in Singapore and the KLCC area in Kuala Lumpur are generally easier, closer to hotel-ballroom conditions, but always confirm power and load-in access with the venue before we quote.

5. Booking

What to tell us when you enquire

The quote comes back faster and more accurate when you give us five things upfront: the date, the city and venue, the number of children and their rough age range, the indoor or outdoor setting, and the language you need the performer to work in. Age range matters more than people assume. A magician set built for six to nine year olds falls flat with a room of three year olds, and a bubble show aimed at toddlers bores a group of ten year olds within minutes. Tell us the real age spread, not just "kids."

Lead time: two to four weeks is comfortable for a normal weekend birthday party or family day in either city. Chinese New Year, Christmas week, Songkran, Loy Krathong, Hari Raya and Diwali are peak dates across the region because families and companies all book the same weekends, so confirm six weeks or more ahead if your date falls near one of these. If you also need a band or DJ for the adults' side of a family day, our live bands in Bangkok and Hong Kong page covers that separately, since it is usually a different act and a different slot in the run sheet.

6. Other cities

Singapore and Kuala Lumpur bookings

We also book kids entertainment in Singapore and Kuala Lumpur, and in Macau, Phuket and other cities in the region on request. The process is the same: tell us the date, venue, guest count and age range, and we quote in SGD or MYR against local act availability. Singapore events often land at Sentosa resorts or hotel function spaces, and Kuala Lumpur events cluster around the KLCC area and nearby hotels. If your event is part of a bigger brand activation rather than a single birthday, it is worth looking at our corporate entertainment page, since family days for staff often get budgeted and briefed alongside other entertainment on the same event.

The most expensive mistake: booking one performer for a guest count that needs two. A single face painter or balloon twister working a queue of 50 children either runs 30 to 40 minutes over the agreed slot, or rushes the designs and disappoints half the queue. The fix costs less than the problem: tell us the guest count honestly at enquiry stage and we will recommend one or two performers based on actual throughput, not on what sounds like a smaller budget line.
FAQ

Common questions

How much does kids party entertainment cost in Hong Kong?

Guide prices run from around HKD 2,500 for a single balloon artist or face painter on a short set to HKD 5,000 or more for a magician or mascot on a longer set or a weekend date. The final price depends on set length, language and guest count, so confirm with a quote once you have a date and venue.

How much does kids party entertainment cost in Bangkok?

Guide prices typically run from THB 8,000 for a balloon artist or face painter to THB 20,000 or more for a magician or bubble show on a longer or weekend set. Songkran and Chinese New Year week dates often sit at the higher end because demand is higher across the city that week.

How far in advance should I book a children's entertainer?

Two to four weeks ahead is comfortable for a standard weekend birthday party or family day in Hong Kong or Bangkok. If your date falls near Chinese New Year, Christmas, Songkran, Loy Krathong, Hari Raya or Diwali, book six weeks or more ahead, since these are the busiest weekends for every agency in the region.

Can one performer cover a party of 50 or more children?

Usually not well. A face painter manages roughly 15 to 20 simple designs an hour, so a queue of 50 children needs two painters to get through everyone inside a reasonable time. Tell us your real guest count at enquiry stage and we will recommend one or two performers based on that, not a guess.

Do magicians and balloon artists work outdoors or on boats?

Yes, but the act gets adapted. Wind affects balloon work and bubble shows more than people expect, and card-based magic struggles outdoors, so performers switch to wind-appropriate material. On Victoria Harbour cruises or Chao Phraya river dinners, deck space and power are limited, so we usually recommend a roaming magician and balloon twister rather than a staged show with props.

What age range is each act best suited to?

Bubble shows and mascot appearances work best for roughly three to seven year olds. Magicians and balloon artists have broader appeal and suit mixed groups from about four to eleven. Tell us the real age spread of your guests at enquiry stage, since a set built for one age band can fall flat or lose interest fast with a different one.
