What a hostess, promoter or model actually does at your event
A registration hostess stands at the door, checks names against a guest list, hands out badges or gift bags, and directs people to the right hall or table. A product promoter works a booth, demonstrates the product, and talks to passing traffic. A brand ambassador is usually briefed deeper on the product and works a longer shift, often at a launch or trade show stand. A showcase or runway model is booked for a set, typically 10 to 20 minutes, not a full shift, and is usually paired with a stylist or your own team backstage.
These are different skill sets and different rates. A hostess who is good at warm, fast guest management is not automatically good at holding a product pitch for eight hours. Tell us which job you actually need filled and we match the right people, rather than sending generic "models" who look right in photos but freeze at the registration desk.
2. Hong Kong and Bangkok ratesGuide prices in Hong Kong and Bangkok
Rates depend on role, shift length, language mix and how far ahead you book. Gala dinners and exhibitions at hotel ballrooms in Wan Chai, Causeway Bay or Tsim Sha Tsui, and convention halls near the harbour, tend to sit at the higher end because of evening hours and formal dress standards. Trade show booth work during a multi-day exhibition is usually quoted as a day rate across the full run.
| Role | Hong Kong (per half day, guide) | Bangkok (per half day, guide) |
|---|---|---|
| Registration hostess, English + local language | HKD 1,800 to 2,800 | THB 3,500 to 5,500 |
| Product promoter, booth or activation | HKD 2,000 to 3,200 | THB 4,000 to 6,500 |
| Brand ambassador, trained pitch | HKD 2,500 to 3,800 | THB 5,000 to 8,000 |
| Runway or showcase model, per set | HKD 3,000 to 5,000+ | THB 6,000 to 12,000+ |
These are guide ranges only. Final cost depends on how many languages are needed, whether it is a weekend or a public holiday shift, uniform supply, and how many staff you book at once, since agency rates usually improve a little per head on group bookings of six or more. Ask us for a written quote once you have a date and headcount.
3. Singapore and Kuala LumpurSingapore and Kuala Lumpur rates and availability
We book the same roles in Singapore and Kuala Lumpur, for events at Sentosa resorts, Marina Bay area hotels, the Suntec and Expo convention halls, and KLCC area ballrooms and malls. Guide rates in Singapore run roughly SGD 250 to 450 per half day for hostesses and promoters, and in Kuala Lumpur roughly MYR 350 to 700. Mandarin, Malay and Tamil language staff are available in both cities but should be requested early, since bilingual promoters get booked out fast during trade show season.
We also cover Macau and Phuket and can arrange other cities in the region on request, usually for clients who are already running a Hong Kong or Bangkok event and need a second city added to the same program.
4. The briefWhat to tell us when you book
The faster we get a usable brief, the faster you get a real quote instead of a guess. Give us the event date, city and venue, start and end time, guest count or expected foot traffic, and the number of staff you think you need. Tell us the dress code you want, whether that is corporate black, branded uniform you will supply, or a specific color theme matching your stage design. Tell us the languages required, since Cantonese, Mandarin, Thai and English are the most requested combinations, with Bahasa and Tamil common for Kuala Lumpur bookings.
If it is a product launch or exhibition booth, send us the product information or a short script a few days ahead so promoters can actually learn it, not just stand next to it. If you are also booking stage entertainment for the same night, our corporate entertainment team can coordinate hostesses, hosts and performers on one running order so nobody is waiting on a cue that never comes.
5. TimingLead times and peak season in Hong Kong and Bangkok
Two to three weeks' notice is comfortable for a standard booking of two to six hostesses. One week is workable but narrows your choice, especially for bilingual or taller model roles that clients tend to specify. Book four weeks or more ahead if your date falls near Chinese New Year, when most of Hong Kong's hospitality and promotional staff are already committed to corporate dinners and retail activations, or near Christmas and New Year week, when hotel ballrooms run back to back events.
In Bangkok, Songkran in April and the run-up to Loy Krathong in November are the tightest weeks for staff availability, since both fall during heavy event and festival season. Gala dinners tied to Diwali or Hari Raya periods in Singapore and Kuala Lumpur also fill up early, because clients book the same trusted bilingual staff year after year. If your date sits inside any of these windows, get in touch as soon as you have a venue confirmed.
6. PresentationUniforms, briefing and languages
Most clients choose between three options: our standard black or neutral uniform, a color or style we source to match your branding, or garments you supply and we fit to staff before the event. Tell us which one you want at quote stage, since sourcing a specific color in the right sizes takes lead time.
We run a briefing with staff before the shift, covering the floor plan, the guest list or registration process, your key talking points if it is a promotional role, and the dress code. For gala dinners on a harbour cruise in Victoria Harbour or a Chao Phraya river dinner, staff are briefed separately on boarding times and safety points, since the schedule is tighter and there is no late arrival option once the boat leaves the pier.
If your event also needs dancers, a live band or solo musicians on the same stage, it is worth booking everyone through one point of contact. See our pages on hiring dancers in Hong Kong and Bangkok and live bands in Bangkok and Hong Kong for how that usually gets scheduled alongside hostess staff.
Booking hostesses with no brief beyond "send some models" and no rehearsal of the registration process. The staff show up capable but blind: they don't know the guest list format, the floor plan, or what to say when a VIP arrives early. You end up with a bottleneck at the door during your first ten minutes, which is exactly when first impressions are made. A 20 minute briefing call or on site walk through the week of the event avoids this completely.
Frequently asked questions
How much does it cost to hire an event hostess in Hong Kong?
A guide rate for a registration or guest hosting hostess in Hong Kong is roughly HKD 1,800 to 2,800 for a half day shift, rising toward HKD 3,500 or more for bilingual staff, evening gala dinners, or trained brand ambassador roles. The final price depends on shift length, language mix, uniform and headcount, so confirm with a written quote once you have your date and guest numbers.
What is the difference between a hostess and a promoter?
A hostess manages guests: greeting, registration, directing people, and general hospitality duties at the event entrance or lounge. A promoter works a product or brand activation, demonstrating a product and talking to foot traffic at a booth or stand. Promoters are usually briefed on product details in advance, while hostesses are briefed on guest flow and the floor plan. Some staff can do both, but it is worth specifying which you need.
How far in advance should I book hostesses in Bangkok?
Two to three weeks' notice works well for a standard booking of a few hostesses in Bangkok. Book four weeks or more ahead if your date falls near Songkran in April or the weeks around Loy Krathong in November, since event and festival season narrows staff availability fast, particularly for bilingual Thai and English speakers.
Do you provide male models and hosts, not just female hostesses?
Yes. We book male and female staff across hosting, promoting and modelling roles. Male hosts are common for gala dinners, award nights and corporate launches, and male promoters are often requested for technology, automotive or spirits brand activations. Tell us the gender mix you need at brief stage and we will confirm availability alongside the rest of your staff.
Can hostesses work in Cantonese, Mandarin and Thai?
Yes, bilingual and trilingual staff are available in both Hong Kong and Bangkok, and this is one of the most common requests we get. Cantonese and Mandarin pairs are standard in Hong Kong, Thai and English pairs are standard in Bangkok, and Mandarin, Malay or Tamil speakers are available for Singapore and Kuala Lumpur bookings. Request specific languages early, since bilingual staff are booked fastest during peak season.
Can you supply hostesses for a wedding, not just a corporate event?
Yes, though for weddings the role is usually guest hosting and reception management rather than product promotion: greeting guests, managing the gift or registration table, and guiding people between ceremony and reception areas. If you are planning a wedding in the region, our wedding planning team can coordinate hosting staff alongside the rest of your vendors and timeline.
