What you are booking
Traditional Thai dance is a formal art with roots in royal court ritual. Dancers move in slow, controlled gestures with hands and arms telling a story while the body stays still. The costume is the centrepiece: a tall crown, golden breastplate, silk sampot wrapped at the hips and a shoulder cloth draped across the chest, all in gold, deep red or green silk with intricate beading and sequins. Some pieces use real gold thread.
Three main styles are available for events. Central Thai court dance (known as lakhon or khon) is the most formal and visually striking. Northern fon lep uses smaller hand movements and a slightly quicker tempo, often with a more intimate feel. Southern dance incorporates broader arm gestures and more hip movement, reflecting the regional Malay influence. All three styles are graceful, authentic and work well for gala dinners and hotel welcome receptions.
Most performers are Thai nationals trained in classical technique. A typical act consists of 2 to 4 dancers working together, sometimes with a live musician or backing track. The performance is silent on stage, with the music providing the rhythm. It is visually strong from across a large ballroom or from a distance outdoors.

These dancers work anywhere there is a flat performance space and room for the audience to see clearly. Bangkok venues that book this act regularly include hotel ballrooms along Sukhumvit (especially 5-star properties in Nana, Phrom Phong and Thonglor), rooftop bars in Silom, and dinner cruises on the Chao Phraya River. Phuket sees them at resort galas and beachfront venues. Hua Hin and other provincial cities are possible with a little more lead time.
The act works for welcome receptions (guests stand or move around), sit-down gala dinners, product launches and corporate anniversary events. The performance is short enough that it does not interrupt the flow of a formal dinner. It also works well as an opening act or during a cocktail reception, when guests are arriving.
3. Planning the logisticsWhat to plan for
Your venue needs a clear performance area about 4 metres by 4 metres minimum. This can be a stage, a cleared corner of a ballroom floor or an open terrace. Sightlines matter more than stage height. If your venue is a Chao Phraya dinner cruise or an outdoor garden, we will work with you on sight lines and the best spot.
Backstage or a holding area nearby is important so dancers can enter from privacy. A lockable space to store costumes and personal belongings is standard. Changing facilities (a restroom or private room) allow the dancers to arrive in regular clothes and change on site, which is typical.
Lighting is simple. If your venue has basic ambient lighting, that is enough. Spotlighting makes the performance stronger but is not required. Sound is either a live musician (uncommon for this act at events) or a backing track played through your venue sound system. We provide the track or guide your sound technician through setup. The audio is usually Thai classical music, 10 to 20 seconds of introduction and then the performance piece itself, which runs 15 to 20 minutes depending on the act size.
4. How much notice and whenTimeline and availability
Book 4 to 6 weeks before your event. This gives us time to confirm availability with our dancers and check your venue details. Shorter notice is sometimes possible, especially in Bangkok, but costs may increase. Last-minute bookings within 2 weeks are usually not possible.
Availability is strong year-round in Bangkok, especially during the cool season (November to February). Chinese New Year, Songkran (Thai New Year, mid-April) and Loy Krathong (November) see higher demand, so book earlier if your event falls near these dates. Phuket is busiest during high season (December to February). We book entertainment for corporate events, weddings and hotel functions across the region, so flexibility on your performance slot within your event helps us confirm availability quickly.
5. Technical requirementsCostume, music and stage needs
The dancers bring their own costume and jewellery. Gold and silk are heavy, so venue climate control matters. Most hotel ballrooms are air conditioned, which is fine. Outdoor events in Phuket heat require planning. If your outdoor event is midday, consider a marquee or shaded area so the performers do not overheat in costume. Evening outdoor events are ideal.
Music is provided as a digital file (usually MP3) played through your venue sound system. We send this to your sound technician at least one week before the event so they can test levels and cue timing. The track is usually 25 to 30 minutes total: intro music, the main performance (15 to 20 minutes) and an outro. Your sound technician simply presses play at the agreed moment.
A dressing room with a mirror, chair and a secure space for bags is needed. Dancers arrive 30 to 45 minutes before their performance slot to change and prepare. This means confirming a timeline with the venue and with us at least one week in advance.

Prices above are guide ranges for Bangkok. Phuket and Hua Hin may be higher due to travel costs. These are estimates only and assume a single 15 to 20 minute performance at a hotel or restaurant venue with standard facilities. The quote includes the dancers' fees, costume, the music track and one coordination call before the event. We cover transportation within Bangkok or Phuket.
What is not included: venue hire, your sound system or operator (you provide), lighting technician (if you want professional lighting), or any catering. If you need a rehearsal with your full event team, we can arrange one for an additional fee.
Payment is usually 50% on booking confirmation and 50% one week before the event. We invoice you directly. Cancellation within 3 weeks of the event is non-refundable unless we can re-book the dancers.
7. Questions people askFrequently asked questions
Do the dancers perform to live music or a backing track?
Backing track through your venue sound system is standard and costs less. Live Thai classical musicians are possible but rare at corporate events because they need their own space, sound balance and advance coordination. Most events use the backing track, which allows us to guarantee timing and quality control.
Can I request a specific Thai dance style or region?
Yes. Central Thai court dance is the most common choice for formal dinners. Northern fon lep (more delicate) and southern dance (more dynamic) are both available if you brief us in advance. Let us know your preference when you request a quote.
What is the minimum guest count?
There is no minimum. We book for intimate private dinners of 20 people and large hotel galas of 500 plus. The performance is the same quality and length either way. It is the booking fee that matters, not the audience size.
Can they perform outdoors in heat, such as a Phuket beach venue?
Yes, but with planning. Costumes are heavy silk and gold. Midday sun outdoors means heat stress on the dancers. Evening performances are ideal. If your event is daytime, we recommend a covered outdoor space, tent or marquee to keep the performers cool between arrival and performance time.
How long does the full performance last from start to finish?
The actual dancing is 15 to 20 minutes depending on the act size. Including music intro and outro, the total audio is about 25 to 30 minutes. Your event timeline should block 45 minutes: 15 minutes for dancers to arrive and prepare in the dressing room, 25 to 30 minutes for the performance, and 10 minutes to collect costumes and leave. Communicate this slot clearly to your other vendors.
What happens if a dancer gets sick close to the event?
We have backup dancers trained in the same repertoire. If anyone becomes unavailable within one week of the event, we confirm a replacement immediately. We will not cancel your performance. This is covered in our booking terms.
